I’m such a fan of stripes. From pants to blouses, they always make an outfit chic without having to try so hard. As there’s still a bit of a breeze in Houston, I’m still able to get use out of my “winter boots” by Isabel Marant. I love these sneakers because you can throw them on with anything and you’re good to go. Plus, they’re comfortable.

Starting the day out right in this über breezy romper by Cameo. Probably not the most ideal outfit to wear when you’re going to a festival especially when your only option of a toilet is a port-a-potty. Luckily, that wasn’t the case the whole time. Music filled the air of Zilker Park in Austin, Texas for another amazing year of Austin City Limits this past weekend. We saw rain, shine and green grass that turned into a complete muddy mess. A good tip before planning your outfits for a music festival, check the weather and have a back up plan. But then again, the weather forecasts wasn’t exactly accurate. Going with a great group of people is always a plus.

This year I decided to parade around in everything that felt breezy. Austin is the best city for dressing exactly how you feel, and I did exactly that.

Whenever you’re traveling, less is always more. So, it’s always keen to have pieces that can go with almost everything. I brought five pairs of shoes and ended up wearing one pair the entire time during the day. The weather was a bit warm and humid, so sheer and sleeveless pieces were the most ideal. I usually start to plan my outfits for SXSW months ahead or I’ll wait to the last minute for some. The moment I was informed the weather would be cold, wet and rainy, I was pissed. The thought of having to see my favorite bands outside in the cold rain seemed miserable, and Wellie’s certainly wouldn’t go with half of what I packed. So, I did what any girl would do… I packed a suitcase full of shoes just in case the weather let up. To hell with the rain, I’m sticking with my paper thin outfits and and will just throw on a jacket and tote around my dome shaped umbrella. Needless to say, after the first few days of the pouring down rain and chilly winds, the weather let up, the sun was out and I was ready to play! Unfortunately, I didn’t keep track of all of my outfits…

Technically, this was day 2, but I forgot to shoot my outfit and my dome umbrella had broken by now.

If you have an eccentric style, it’s nothing Austin, Texas hasn’t seen. South by South West also known as SXSW, brings in a plethora of people for it’s Interactive, Film and Music Festival. From the nerds who probably play as LARPs on their day off to the rock bands who’ve made it or are up and coming, fashionistas parading around in the latest trends, to actors looking to promote their next film. The moment 6th street is closed off is the best time for people watching, whether from the side of the street to the top of one of the local bars.

This past month, I had the experience of jury duty. The case went on longer than expected [Days expected: 7]. So, of course my outfits had to accommodate a court room that might as well have been a refrigerator and metal detectors; you couldn’t wear shoes unless they were sneakers, and the only time I wear sneakers is to the gym or running, and chucks just didn’t go with anything.

Downtown Houston has a tunnel system whenever there is inclement weather which prevents outside walking, but whoever said the tunnel connected to the courthouse parking garage was a “shortcut” to the courthouse was full of crap. I was usually the girl making a mad dash while carrying my Mary Nichols tote on one arm and my Botkier purse in the other. That’s the other reason why I stopped wearing heels.

The horror: As you can imagine the shock I was in when I saw everyone else dressed in sweats and hoodies for jury duty. I had people taking photos of me probably wondering who the hell I was. SEE DAY 1

Sitting and waiting: The first day for jurors to be selected took until 8:30PM. I had gone crazy by this time. They had to choose 14 out of 200 people, which is unusual. They finally dismissed us and 40 of us had to return to see if we had been selected. Oh, the friends I made while I was there. : )
